TEKONSHA TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A driver is dead after they struck a disabled vehicle in Calhoun County.
It happened around 9:50 p.m. Monday on southbound I-69 near M-60 in Tekonsha Township.
Michigan State Police say a driver hit a deer on I-69, disabling their vehicle, and the two occupants got out and were able to walk off the freeway.
That’s when a second vehicle rear ended the disabled vehicle, went off the roadway, and struck a tree.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital where they later died.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
The southbound side was shut down while the investigation was conducted and the debris was cleaned up.
