VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a double crash left two people dead on Monday, Dec. 16th.
Police say that around 11:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a crash at the intersection of M-43 Hwy and County Road 665 in Waverly Township.
The crash involved an SUV and a commercial tanker truck. Upon arrival, deputies pronounced the two occupants of the SUV dead. No injuries were reported for the driver of the tanker truck, who remained on the scene.
Police say that the truck driver was traveling East bound on M-43 Hwy, while the SUV was stopped at the intersection on County Road 665. The SUV had stopped at the stop sign, but then pulled out into the intersection into the path of the tanker truck.
The SUV was struck by the tanker truck, causing it to lose control and spin into a yard.
The crash remains under investigation at this time. No names have been released.
