KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A suspect threatening to shoot up a crowd is thwarted due to quick action by a military veteran.
Officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to the 2700 block of West Michigan Avenue near the campus of Western Michigan University at 2:06 a.m. for a report of a fight with a male who flashed a gun.
Multiple officers were already in the area on a directed patrol and arrived quickly. Upon arrival the suspect was being held on the ground by the veteran.
The suspect was seen by witnesses flashing a gun during a fight then heard by the military veteran that he was going to “shoot everybody.” Officers located a loaded handgun on the suspect and placed him in custody.
As a result of this investigation, and the heroism of a military veteran taking action, the suspect, a 32 year old Milford Ohio resident is in custody on multiple felony charges related to this incident.
