KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man with outstanding warrants is now in the county jail thanks to the tracking work of a Kalamazoo Public Safety K-9.
Officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of Adams Street near Parkview Avenue in the Oakwood neighborhood around 7:10 p.m. Wednesday after a report of a family disturbance.
When they arrived one of the suspects, who had three outstanding warrants for his arrest, fled out the kitchen window.
That’s when authorities brought in K-9 Nero, the most senior dog in the department, who located the suspect hiding on the roof of a detached garage.
The 28-year-old man was taken into custody for outstanding warrants, with additional charges pending for resisting and obstructing a police officer.
K-9 Nero has been with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety of 7 years.
