MOUNT PLEASANT, MI (WTVB) – Central Michigan University football and men’s basketball broadcaster Don Chiodo died Wednesday from injuries he suffered in a traffic accident.
The Detroit News reports he was on M-46 west of Saginaw which he collided with a semi truck. The 54-year-old Chiodo was preparing to broadcast Saturday’s Mid American Conference football championship game between CMU and Miami of Ohio at Ford Field.
The 1990 graduate of CMU joined the football broadcasts in 1996 and eventually became the play-by-play voice in 2010. Chiodo had been calling men’s basketball games since 2011.
He also had broadcasting jobs during his career in Saginaw, Traverse City, and Mount Pleasant.
