KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Red Cross is urging eligible citizens to donate blood at any available event through the month of December.
The Red Cross says that over 1 million units of blood could be transfused between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but busy holiday schedules make it difficult to collect in that time period.
Type O blood is the most urgent needed among all blood types.
To help reward donors, the Red Cross is offering a $5 Amazon gift card to those who donate before December 18th.
Citizens can sign up to donate by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting www.RedCrossBlood.org, or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
