BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — Two women who claim they got ill because they had Kellogg’s Honey Smacks for breakfast are suing the Battle Creek-based cereal maker for compensation and damages.
One of the federal suits was filed by a woman from Hyde Park Massachusetts, the other by a woman from Hamilton Mississippi.
They are both seeking damages in excess of $25,000, which is the least you can sue for in federal courts.
The Center for Disease Control says they first issued warnings last spring that the product was being recalled, and have reissued the warning twice because cases kept popping up.
They now say that Honey Smacks cereal tainted with Salmonella has caused 73 people in 31 states to become ill.
