KENT COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — After their 3-day trial, the jury has found Quinn James guilty of sexually assaulting Mujey Dumbuya, who was only 15 at the time.
The former Kentwood Public Schools employee was convicted Thursday on 4 counts of criminal sexual conduct after he assaulted the East Kentwood High School student multiple times, including when her former boyfriend Daquarius Bibbs was present.
However, 18-year-old Bibbs, who was living with James at the time because he is the nephew of James’ girlfriend, admitted that he helped plan the sexual relations between the two and only called police once when James kicked him out of the house.
On Wednesday the jury heard a phone interview with James and his relatives where he admitted to the assaults.
He will be sentenced on December 10th, but that’s just the beginning of an even larger crime.
Dumbuya’s body was found in a wooden area of Kalamazoo’s West Douglas neighborhood in late January and James will later face a separate trial for her murder.
