CONSTANTINE TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An elderly woman is seriously injured after a distracted driver blew through a stop sign in St. Joseph County.
It happened around noon on Saturday at the intersection of North River Road and US-131 in Constantine Township.
Deputies say a 28-year-old woman from Indiana was looking at her GPS when she ran the stop sign and her Ford SUV collided into a Hyundai driven by a 77-year-old woman from White Pigeon.
Both vehicles went off the roadway and into a ditch.
The driver of the Ford SUV and her child were not injured but the Hyundai driver was rushed to Bronson Methodist hospital with serious injuries.
Seatbelts were worn by all occupants and alcohol or speed were not factors in the crash.
