LANSING (WKZO) — House Insurance Committee chairman Tom Leonard is expressing confidence that Michigan’s comprehensive no-fault auto insurance system can be reformed this session.
The DeWitt Republican tells Lansing’s MIRS News that he also thinks he can get at least 70 votes in the House after a series of meetings with groups on both sides of the reform issue. A major overhaul of the system has proven elusive, as lawmakers from both parties have tried and failed to change the state’s unique auto insurance law.
Leonard is not disclosing the details of his plan yet, admitting it’s “complicated but possible.”
