NILES TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Niles woman is dead after she was struck by a vehicle while attempting to grab something in the road.
It happened around noon on Sunday on North 5th Street near Pucker Street in Niles Township.
Berrien County Sheriff deputies say 49-year-old Candace Barna was a passenger on a motorcycle and got off to retrieve a piece of clothing she lost in the roadway when she was hit by a vehicle that apparently couldn’t avoid her.
An investigation into the fatal crash is still underway.
