KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The search continues for Kalamazoo Public Schools next Superintendent.
On Thursday the board selected the Michigan Association of School Boards to be their search firm as they look for the perfect candidate.
Vice President Ken Greschak says this in-state firm will best assist the district.
Board President Patti Sholler-Barber called the other two firms “canned presentations” that didn’t research the district.
Before they made their decision, Sholler-Barber said, “This search is about Kalamazoo Public Schools, our community, our family, our children.”
Three firms were interviewed on Tuesday and scored on a specific rubric. The other two were Hazard, Young, Attea, & Associations and Ray and Associates which are both out of state firms.
This comes after former Kalamazoo Superintendent Michael Rice was chosen as the State’s Superintendent.
