BRADY TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A group in Kalamazoo County is launching a new billboard campaign with the hopes of settling a decade-old cold case.
The Erik’s Army group, “Justice for Erik Cross,” will be putting up 6 new billboards throughout the area asking for help from Attorney General Dana Nessel.
They feature the above photo of Cross on the left as well as a picture of Nessel on the right with the words, “Need help from Attorney General Dana Nessel for JusticeForErikCross.com.”
It’s similar to their effort they held when Bill Schuette was the Attorney General.
16-year-old Cross was found dead by his father in a morning in June of 1983 in front of their Brady Township home near Vicksburg after he had walked from a graduation party the night before.
But some believe that something much more intentional happened to him and that the hit and run was staged.
To help fund their billboards, the group is doing a bottle drive at Stubby’s Smokehouse in Vicksburg from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The cold case death investigation was sent to the Attorney General’s office for a review back in February.
Nessel’s office has said they are aware of the group’s efforts, but have no further comment at this time.
