KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The victims of two homicides that occurred over the weekend in Kalamazoo have been identified.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says the victim of the Saturday morning homicide in the 400 block of West Michigan Avenue was 19-year-old Anthony Charles Lyte, Jr.
The victim of the Sunday morning homicide in the 1300 block of Ravine Road has been identified as 19-year-old Shawn Leone Leflore-Ray.
KDPS says both homicides remain under investigation, and no suspects or motives have been announced.
“Two homicides in one weekend are a sobering reminder of the impact gun violence has on our community,” said Captain Danielle Guilds of the Criminal Investigations Division. “These are not
just incidents or statistics; they are lives lost, families forever changed, and a community left grieving. We cannot allow these acts of violence to become normalized. We remain committed to
holding those responsible accountable and working together to make our community safer.”
