EAST LANSING, MI — Media Partner 6 News WLNS in Lansing is reporting that the region’s largest credit union shut down its website and all electronic banking functions on Wednesday, Oct. 21, after federal officials warned of a critical security issue in programming language. The security issue could involve as many as 70% of websites worldwide.
WLNS says MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) restored its website overnight, but its e-banking services remain offline on Thursday morning.
MSUFCU took its online platforms offline intentionally “out of an abundance of caution” following urgent cyber-security warnings from the FBI and National Security Agency (NSA) regarding critical vulnerabilities in the PHP programming language
