BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Damage is estimated at $10,000 in a blaze at the Family Dollar on Capital Avenue SW in Battle Creek shortly after 9:00 p.m. Sunday.
Firefighters were dispatched, along with LifeCare Ambulance, following reports of smoke coming from the building. They found fire showing from the rear corner and roofline of the structure. Fire crews quickly began fire suppression and search operations. Everyone was evacuated from the building safely.
The Battle Creek Fire Deopartment says the fire was contained in the rear wall and roofline area of the building.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office, but is believed to have been accidental in nature.
