BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Two cases involving a Calhoun County woman who is accused of embezzling from her church and burying her dead mother in the front yard of her home have been bound over to Calhoun County Circuit Court.
46-year-old Marcia Lutz waived her District Court preliminary exam in the cases Wednesday.
Lutz is facing a felony count of concealing a death and a misdemeanor for failing to report a body.
Authorities also accuse her of embezzling between $20,000 and $40,000 from the First Christian Church in Emmett Township.
The body of 74-year-old Phyllis Lutz was found buried outside her home on Four Mile Road in Leroy Township south of Battle Creek last January after her friends had not heard from her since September 2018. Investigators think that is the time she died.
