KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM ) — UPDATE: The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety has announced that the suspect sought in an assault case against a woman in downtown Kalamazoo has been arrested.
In an official press release, KDPS issued the following statement:
“Due to information and several tips from citizens, the suspect was identified as a 30 year old Kalamazoo man. An arrest warrant was sought and obtained for his arrest in reference to this assault. On October 23, 2019, the suspect was located and arrested in the City of Kalamazoo. The suspect was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail while awaiting arraignment.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety would like to thank the public for their assistance with identifying and locating this suspect.“

A man is at large after assaulting a woman in downtown Kalamazoo over the weekend.
Public Safety officers say the woman was walking in the area of East Michigan Avenue and Farmer’s Alley around 11 p.m. Saturday when she was assaulted by a suspect she didn’t know, but a passerby witnessed the incident and intervened, causing the man to flee the scene.
Another witness said that they saw the suspect following the woman before the attack.
