VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a drug bust Wednesday lead to the arrest of one suspect.
According to an official press release, the Van Buren narcotics unit received information that the suspect, James Steele, was involved in illegal narcotics activities and had a valid felony warrant for his arrest for possession of methamphetamine.
After conducting surveillance on a vehicle driven by Steele on Wednesday, October 23rd, officers pulled Steele over near the 70000 block of County Road 687 in Hartford Township.
Steele was then arrested for his outstanding warrant. He was also found in possession of a loaded handgun in the waistband of his pants.
After searching his vehicle, approximately ¼ ounce of suspected methamphetamine and multiple suspected alprazolam pills, along with various drug paraphernalia, were located.
Steele is currently lodged at the Van Buren county jail on various charges. The case will now be forwarded to the prosecutor for further review.
