PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Interviews with the four finalists to become the next city manager of Portage are set to be held Wednesday, August 19th.
The city released the names of the four Friday morning after the city council narrowed the field from 53 applicants on Tuesday.
They are Sarah Moyer-Cale, the city manager in Hastings, Aaron Desentz, the city manager in Mt. Pleasant, Karen Dempsey-Horan, the chief administrative officer of The Woodlands Township in Texas, and Aaron Mitchell, the city manager in Otsego.
The four are seeking to succeed retired Portage City Manager Pat McGinnis, who retired earlier this month after four years.
Second round interviews will be scheduled after the four speak with the city council and a new city manager is expected to be appointed by early September.
The timetable is intended to provide a smooth leadership transition and ensure the selection process leads to the right candidate to head Portage.
