PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Portage has announced that it will begin accepting medical marijuana business applications Monday, November 18th.
According to an official press release, the Portage Office of the City Clerk will begin receiving applications for Medical Marihuana Facility Provisional Permits for Provisioning Centers, Secure Transporters, Safety Compliance Facilities, Grower Facilities and Processor Facilities.
The application deadline is currently set for 5 p.m. on Friday, December 13th. No applications will be accepted in part or in whole beyond the deadline, although the city reserves the right to extend the deadline.
Officials stress that applicants must have received pre-qualification from the Michigan Medical Marihuana Licensing Board in order to have their application considered – no exceptions.
Additionally, all applications will not be considered on a first come first served basis. All applications will be reviewed once the application period is closed.
Applicants must also be aware of all relevant City of Portage Ordinances pertaining to marijuana facilities. such as the 1,000-foot separation requirement from a variety of properties – including any currently operating provisioning center, growing or processing facility.
Applications can only be submitted in person during normal city business hours (8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday) and must include a signed and complete application form, all attachments required in the application and the $5,000 permit fee.
