LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Nine bills approved by lawmakers 18-months ago finally reached the desk of Governor Gretchen Whitmer late last week, and she vetoed all of them due to the delay.
Whitmer says if she would have signed them, it would have created “an insurmountable administrative burden” and would have unleashed “endless litigation.”
House Republicans had blocked the bills from advancing to her desk after they re-took the majority in the 2024 election.
House Speaker Matt Hall of Richland says he decided to help House and Senate Democrats “after they helped me pass a new state budget that’s smaller than last year and without any of their tax and fee increases,” and offered his sympathies after the vetoes were signed.
