TEXAS TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Texas Township Board didn’t have to look far to find their next Township Superintendent.
Josh Owens, who served as Assistant Supervisor for Oshtemo Charter Township in Kalamazoo County from 2019 to 2022, will take over in Texas Township effective July 13.
Township officials say Owens brings over a decade of public sector administration, policy analysis, and private sector operational leadership to the position, “making him uniquely equipped to guide the township’s strategic growth and service delivery.”
They say with Oshtemo Township he managed the Fire Department, Ordinance Enforcement, IT, and the township’s law enforcement contract, played he played a critical role in budget administration, union negotiations, and navigating community-wide operational responses. His public sector experience also includes serving as an Administrative Aide and Analyst for the City of Grand Rapids, and as the DDA/Main Street Executive Director for the City of Otsego.
Most recently, Owens served as the Director of Operations for Phoenix Construction Management & Services.
He replaces Brooke Hovenkamp, who stepped down in December 2025 to relocate to mid-Michigan.
