KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An investigation is underway after a fatal shooting near Western Michigan University’s campus.
Police were dispatched to Hidden Hills Apartments, near Western Michigan University just before 2 a.m. on Wednesday November 13.
Police said the 19-year-old victim was shot and then taken to the hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
A 22-year-old suspect was arrested and taken to jail on an outstanding warrant. Police are investigating the motives behind the shooting.
WMU Campus Public Safety tweeted around 2 a.m. Wednesday:
“WMU Advisory: KDPS is investigating a report of a shooting in the 4200 block of W . Michigan. Exercise caution if you are in the area.”
The suspect will be arraigned on Thursday for an open murder charge
