BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek Police are investigating after a 2-year-old apparently shot himself with his father’s gun.
It occurred around 4 p.m. Wednesday at a home on Battle Creek Avenue near Washington Avenue.
The father says he got up to use the restroom while his child was sleeping and heard the pop of the gun.
The 2-year-old was taken to Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Authorities located the loaded gun on the couch with the safety off. The father could face charges as officers continue their investigation.
