KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo County Administrator Kevin Catlin is leaving the county government effective August 14th to take the county administrator job in Chesterfield County, Virginia.
Dr. Catlin has been the county’s chief administrative and accounting officer since 2022 and will start his next job August 24th.
He called the past four years “one of the greatest privileges of my professional career” and says he is grateful for the trust and confidence the county board put in him.
Under Catlin’s leadership, Kalamazoo County made what officials say was “significant progress on several long-term priorities” including implementing their Strategic Plan, and establishing a Facilities Master Plan and Capital Improvement Plan to guide future investments.
The county also administered transformative ARPA-funded projects, expanded housing and homelessness response initiatives, including the creation of The Landing Place transitional family shelter, and advanced plans for a centralized downtown Kalamazoo county campus, including the construction of a new parking structure and future administration building.
The county board is now searching for a new administrator.
