KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) –
There is confusion in Kalamazoo County about how much COVID vaccine the Feds have in reserve, adding to the frustration over Operation Warp Speed.
County officials say they are frustrated as well, and they are hearing from the public that they are too.
They held a news conference Friday.
County Health Director Jim Rutherford says they have opened registration at their website for those over 65 who want the shots.
Over 40,000 county seniors will be eligible.
But he says they are only getting 3,000 doses each week…and they have to be shared with teachers and other essential workers.
In the meantime, they are asking the public for patience and understanding.
Rutherford says they would prefer it if seniors over 65 registered online, but if they can’t…they can call (269) 373-5200.
