KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County Government could be facing potential cuts if State Legislators can’t come to terms on a new budget.
Administrator Tracie Moored says they could lose $1.2-million dollars in state funding if a deal isn’t reached.
One potential cut could be layoffs for employees at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
There have been no job cuts yet but 30 day notices have gone out to some employees and there could be some pre-Christmas layoffs if a state budget isn’t passed.
Board Chair Julie Rogers says she hopes they will come up with a compromise soon and suggested that commissioners and the public contact legislators and urge them to act.
Moored says they will present a list of possible cuts at the Board’s next regular meeting.
