KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – An annual summer event that attempts to keep people of all ages moving and connecting kicks off again Monday.
Organizers says Run This Town Kalamazoo was born in 2014 to foster community bonds and promote fitness, addressing the challenges posed by declining physical activity and social connections.
The new season will launch Monday, June 15 at 6:00 p.m. and will continue every Monday through August 17 at Mayor’s Riverfront Park, 251 Mills Street, Kalamazoo.
Following a dynamic group stretch and warm-up, attendees can choose between a leisurely 2-mile walk or an invigorating 3.1-mile run, all at their own pace. They say excitement peaks at “Victory Lane,” where every participant is cheered on as they triumphantly cross the finish line.
Carmen James, the founder of Fit Bella Vei, says it generates a spirit of community. “From day one, we have always valued collaboration over competition. Run This Town is about more than fitness — it’s about building a stronger, more connected Kalamazoo.”
