KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — According to a survey from the Farm Bureau Federation, the cost for a turkey feast for ten should average around $48.91, or less than $5.00 a person.
In addition to turkey, the survey found slight price declines in cubed bread stuffing and canned pumpkin pie mix. Dinner rolls, sweet potatoes, and milk are slightly more expensive this year.
The informal survey also accounted for side dishes like cranberries, whipped cream, butter and coffee.
Michigan farmers produce many of the items found on a Thanksgiving Day dinner table, according to the Farm Bureau’s report.
However, the farming community has endured a particularly devastating harvest season this year. Last week, the federal government stepped in with natural disaster funding for Michigan farmers to remedy the fallout of extreme rainfall in May.
