KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Shoppers who frequent the Kalamazoo Farmers Market can look forward to seeing improvements in the future.
The market was awarded a $100,000 grant from the Consumers Energy Foundation on Saturday to help with expansion and renovations.
In September, city leaders reviewed plans for the upgrade which will include 350 paved parking spaces, 40% more spaces for vendors, new indoor facilities along with updated activity spaces and a play area.
Also in September, city leaders accepted a $500,000 grant from the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation to help with the project.
