KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo City Commission will consider contracts for the reconstruction of Kalamazoo Avenue and its future conversion back to two-way traffic at its Monday night meeting.
City officials say the project includes modernizing underground infrastructure, upgrading utilities and stormwater systems, improving sidewalks and lighting, modernizing traffic signals, and creating safer, stronger connections throughout Downtown Kalamazoo.
They say the work is part of a broader historic investment in Kalamazoo’s future focused on infrastructure, safety, mobility, resiliency, and long-term economic growth.
If approved, construction would begin this summer and continue in phased sections over the next several years.
