ONTWA TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police in Ontwa Township are searching for a female suspect in a robbery case posing as a worker testing for lead water.
The Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Department announced the search in a Facebook post Monday.
Police say that the suspect came to the home of an elderly woman on Friday, Nov. 19th claiming that she had arrived to test lead levels in the water.
The woman said that she needed to test the elderly woman’s wedding ring for lead as well. When she handed her the ring, the suspect left the house with it.
Due to the elderly woman’s poor eyesight, she was unable to provide a good description of the suspect.
Police are now asking the public for help in identifying the suspect, or if anyone has had any similar experiences. If anyone comes to a home offering lead testing or a similar service, the public is advised to get a description of the suspect and a possible vehicle.
The public is advised to call police if the person offering services is suspicious in any way.
