ALBION, MI. (WKZO AM/FM) — After serving six years as the head of Albion College, president Mauri Ditzler announced he will be retiring from the top job.
Ditzler says he plans to officially retire after the 2019-2020 academic school year. He made that announcement during a public meeting with students and faculty on Tuesday, December 3rd.
School officials have started the search process for his replacement, led by administrator Michael Harrington. The school’s board of trustees has hired the recruiting firm Storbeck Pimental and Associates to assist with finding a new president.
Ditzler has said that he will extend his tenure as president if the college has not found a suitable replacement by July.
The current president has a long track-record of administration in national private colleges. Before joining Albion College in 2014, Ditzler worked at Monmouth College in Illinois, and Wabash College in Indiana.
He says he will stay active with Albion College and student life after he retires, including acting as a college ambassador.
