BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Two men are now facing potential jailtime in federal prison after pedning charges were brought forward in a robbery that happened in Battle Creek.
46-year-old Wilnell Henry and 29-year-old James Honeysucker Jr. are accused of robbing the Check ‘n Go location on Beckley Road on October 2nd. Investigators say they threatened workers with a firearm and ran off with about $30,000.
Henry was arrested after being pulled over for a traffic stop in Emmett Township after officers followed his truck from his Battle Creek home.
They believe that Honeysucker stole the money and Henry then gave him a ride from the scene of the robbery after reviewing surveillance footage.
Honeysucker was arrested at a bus station in Chicago where he was found with a suspicious gun and nearly $17,000 in his possession. Authorities additionally found $11,000 at Henry’s home which they believe he got through selling illegal drugs.
A criminal complaint against the two was filed in federal court in Grand Rapids on November 27th. The complaint charges the suspects with robbery and possession of firearm.
The Battle Creek police department say that one of the suspects oculd be tied to a robbery at Cash Advance on May 23rd, and another incident at Approved Cash on September 30th . They’re thanking citizens who provided tip information and officers in Chicago for their assistance with the case.
