OSTEGO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — District officials in Ostego are holding their last meeting for community input on a multi-million dollar bond being proposed.
The meeting is being held at 6:30 P.M. on Thursday, December 5th at Alamo Elementary School.
Superintendent Jeff Haase says the bond will ultimately replace a sinking fund residents approved back in 2016. That vote authorized a new five-year, 1-mill tax that would fund $8.6 million dollars worth of improvements to district schools.
After facing additional costs, school officials decided to replace the previous millage with a new bond aimed at generating $18.2 million dollars. The district says the new bond would allow for immediate fixes to be made instead of delaying them for a later time.
New projects funded by the bond proposal include replacing the high school swimming pool, building a new playground for elementary students, new air conditioning units for buildings, and the replacement of basic infrastructure throughout the school like heating and cooling systems.
