KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Wednesday, the City of Kalamazoo issued a Boil Water Advisory for Pierce Avenue and some surrounding areas.
According to officials, the advisory has been issued due to a repair of a water main leak. The affected areas are listed as follows:
- Pierce Avenue – From South Westnedge Avenue (western boundary) to South Rose Street (eastern boundary), both sides of street. Does NOT include northwest and southwest corners of Pierce Avenue and South Rose Street.
- Garfield Avenue – Only the southwest corner of Garfield Avenue and South Park Street.
- South Park Street – Includes the following: the northwest, southwest, and southeast corners of South Park Street and Pierce Avenue.
- South Westnedge Avenue – Only the northeast and southeast corners of South Westnedge Avenue and Pierce Avenue.
Residents should note that this is a precautionary boil only.
While this advisory is in effect, area residents should either use bottled water or boil water for at least two minutes before drinking it or using it for other consumptive purposes.
No extra precautions need to be taken for hygienic purposes.
According to city officials, the Boil Water Advisory is expected to be lifted by Saturday, January 16.
