KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo City Commissioners are getting to work breaking down the proposed 2020 budget.
They will hold their first budget work session Monday afternoon to discuss the proposal and take citizens’ comments regarding any of the items.
According to officials during a meeting Monday, the city’s proposed budget includes expenditures of about $202.1 million.
Some of the budget highlights include the hiring of three new positions including a Diversity Equity and Inclusion Officer, a Transportation Planner, and a Public Information Officer, park projects like the removal of the dam at Milham Park, a new Northside splash pad, and improvements to the Kalamazoo Farmer’s Market and the Kik pool.
It also includes several road projects and a proposal for another Public Safety station.
The work session will take place at 5 p.m. Monday in the Community Room at City Hall. The full 122 page budget plan can be found here.
