PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — After posting a “racist and threatening” video to social media, a Portage high school student is being suspended from school.
The unnamed student, who district officials say is a junior at Portage Central High, was not at school on Monday, December 16th following a video posted over the weekend in which they brandish a gun and repeatedly use a racial slur against another user.
School leaders says the posted clip has been sent to and circulated among students in the area. The incident has been referred to the Portage Police Department for investigation.
Portage Public Schools said that the language used by the student does not reflect the district and that their schools must all they can to protect and respect students of color.
