LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 17, 2026) – Now that state lawmakers are back in Lansing, work on the Fiscal 2027 budget is on the proverbial front burner.
During his weekly press briefing on Thursday, House Speaker Matt Hall laid out a wide-angle view of his caucus’ proposed financial blueprint, which would be $106 billion smaller than the current spending plan put in place for state government this past October.
All of the individual department budget proposals are expected to be moved out of House subcommittees by early next week, with the hope of having the entire package sent to the state Senate early in May.
