Kalamazoo, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police have arrested a teenage suspect in a shooting case that took place Sunday afternoon.
Police say that around 4 p.m., Officers responded to a call regarding a shooting in the 1000 block of Princeton.
After arriving, it was determined that a known suspect had shot several times into a residence, striking a male victim in the process.
Witnesses present provided a description of the suspect, as well as his last known direction of travel.
Shortly after, police located the armed suspect nearby, which led to a short foot chase. The suspect was then taken into custody.
Officers also learned that a stolen handgun was used in the shooting.
The suspect has been identified as a 17-year-old male Kalamazoo resident. He is currently lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on various assault and weapons offenses.
The shooting victim was identified as a 19-year-old male Kalamazoo resident. He was transported to the hospital by a private citizen and is currently in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
The case remains under investigation at this time. No names have currently been released.
