OSHTEMO TOWNHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Stolen candy being resold by children outside Oshtemo Township businesses has prompted the township to amend an ordinance and get the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office involved.
Deputies say they have seen an increase in large amounts of candy stolen in the last several months, and children are seen selling candy in the parking lots of stores.
The revised ordinance requires sellers to get permission from the township before selling any goods and holds people accountable if they “knowingly assist” unauthorized sellers.
Tickets start at $75 and rise to $500 for a fourth offense.
