KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The personal information of more than eight-thousand patients at Bronson Healthcare might be at risk due to a recent cyberattack, although the hack took place in June and there has been no sign of anyone being victimized by the possible exposure of the data.
Hospital officials in the Kalamazoo area say a phishing incident happened last Summer when several employees were sent what appeared to be al legitimate email directing them to a website.
When they entered their passwords, they gave the hackers what they needed to get into the payroll system.
Upon further investigation it was determined that Patient records may have also been exposed, but they aren’t certain.
Bronson has already contacted the affected patients with steps to secure their personal information.
