KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo County Health Department has reissued an advisory for people to get a flu shot, following the CDC’s decision to declare a nationwide flu epidemic in the nation.
Every state but Hawaii now is considered to have a widespread outbreak underway.
The CDC is reporting 20 pediatric deaths nationwide and other adult deaths. There is one unconfirmed death in Kalamazoo, tests are pending.
Bronson Healthcare in initiating visitation protocols at all of its facilities, restricting visitation to those who are 15 and above, and requiring that some visitors wear masks.
That includes their hospitals in Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Paw Paw and South Haven, and the Bronson Commons Nursing and Rehab facility in Mattawan.
