PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — There has been yet another boil water emergency, this time in Portage on Ames Drive between Forest and Portage Road. Temperature fluctuations can cause all sorts of shifting and heaving underground, putting pressure on fixed objects like water mains.
We have noticed that labs are getting better at testing and it has shortened the time that it takes to lift the boil water emergencies in some cases, from three to two days.
At this time a boil water advisory also remains in effect for property owners on East Cork from Portage Street to Cameron, and for one property on the northeast corner of Cork and Harvard.
The Boil water alert triggered on Wednesday in the West Main Hill neighborhood near Kalamazoo College has been lifted. Bacteriological Tests show the water there is safe to drink.
