BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A nurse at a Battle Creek nursing home required treatment after she took on a burning light fixture with an extinguisher.
Fire Crews got the 9-1-1 call at 10:16 Saturday night from the Battle Creek Manor on Wagner Drive.
The first crews arriving on scene found an evacuation underway, fire alarms going off, and a hallway filled with smoke.
The nurse had managed to put out the fire, but had inhaled some of the dry chemical from the extinguisher and required treatment at the scene.
They estimate the damage at about $250.
The fire department ventilated the smoke, the patients returned to their rooms and electrical repairs were made to the light fixture.
