LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The State Emergency Operations Center has been activated by Governor Gretchen Whitmer with over three-feet of snow expected in parts of the Upper Peninsula from the current storm.
There are blizzard conditions in the north, and thunderstorms and tornadoes possible in southern Michigan.
Whitmer says the SEOC will monitor the storm and respond if any communities need resources or support.
She last activated the SEOC March 6th when four tornadoes ripped through southwest Michigan, killing four people.
Snow is also in the forecast for southwest Michigan, with the heaviest possible in Allegan, Van Buren, and Cass counties with three-to-five-inches of snow expected.
Kalamazoo County has between two-and-four-inches of snow in the forecast.
A wind advisory is also in effect until 11 p.m. tonight.
