THREE RIVERS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – UAW Local 2093 members at American Axle & Manufacturing in Three Rivers are laying out their contract demands as discussions continue on a new deal.
The current contract expires May 31st, and workers say they are still recovering from losing half of their hourly wage in 2008 when that was slashed from $29 to $14.50.
Wages currently top out at $22 an hour in Three Rivers, and the UAW says they expect a contract that recognizes their value to the firm along with their sacrifice over the last 18 years.
The pay cuts helped save the facility from closing during the Great Recession.
UAW members’ demands include: no concessions, fairer wages and profit sharing, better health care, stronger retirement, and job security.
