KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo Public Schools are facing a federal lawsuit from a Loy Norrix High School student who says the district did not protect her or investigate her claims of being assaulted and harassed.
The student says she was assaulted and harassed for being LGBTQ in April 2023 when she was 14-years-old.
She says she reported harassment and bullying to school employees and a security guard, with the guard telling her to “mind her own business.”
The student was suspended for ten days after being assaulted by the ringleader and her family at the school, and that assault was captured on video.
