KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Brandon Inge Night at the Ballpark last July was a big hit, and the Kalamazoo Growlers are planning a bigger event this July.
The team has signed three-time All Star, two-time Silver Slugger and Detroit Tigers fan favorite Cecil Fielder to a one-day coaching contract.
Fielder will coach first base, set the Growler’s starting lineup, and lead game preparation as Kalamazoo faces the new Richmond Flying Mummies on Friday, July 31st at Homer Stryker Field.
He will do a meet & greet with fans and the community can enjoy a postgame fireworks show.
Fielder will also do a meet & greet with members of the Jr. Growlers program, the official youth travel baseball program for players 8-18U based in the greater Kalamazoo area.
He played 13 seasons for five teams and had a .255 batting average, 1,313 hits, 319 home runs, 1008 RBI’s and 744 runs scored. Fielder played for the Tigers from 1990 to 1996, hitting 245 of his 319 career home runs.
Single-game tickets go on sale May 4th, and two ticket packages will be available for July 31st:
90’s Slugger Combo Package for $28 per seat and has a box seat ticket with food and drink rail, a hot dog, a bag of peanuts, and a pop.
